One-to-One Support – Paramount Training Solutions Ltd

Dear Janet

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all the help you have given me recently on using social media.  Like many business owners, I did not know what I did not know and couldn’t really see how social media would work for me.  Following your advice, which was very much tailored to my type of business and circumstances, I have improved my LinkedIn profile and Twitter presence, which I hope will continue to drive business to my door.

I will continue to recommend your social media events as these are an excellent way to network, whilst improving your skills at the same time.

Many thanks

Joanne Connelly, Director – Paramount Training

Social Media Workshops – Paje Venue Finding, Event Management & Hotel Consultants

PAJE Event Finder, Venue Finder, Hotel ConsultancyWe had the opportunity to attend Janet’s social media training sessions recently covering Twitter, Linked In and Facebook.  Janet’s sessions were an excellent motivator and steer into the world of social media for business.  Janet has a warm, relaxed but assured way of delivery – which encourages the attendees to participate in an un-intimidating environment. Janet brings a wealth of past experiences, across different organisations –  she has an empathy and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by small business, which she brings to social media training.    For many of us, we are well versed in the ways of our ‘industry specialism’s’ but finding the right way of approaching social media, and having the confidence to do so is a whole different ball game.  If like us, Social Media kept appearing on your ‘to do list’ but you didn’t have the confidence and knowledge to dip your toe in – Janet Bebb is just the guiding hand you need!

She’s also inspirational with a skipping rope!

Careers Events at Carr Manor and Cockburn School

On behalf of Leeds Ahead, we’d like to thank Social Progress for participating in the Careers Events at Carr Manor and Cockburn School in October. Businesses have supported seven Careers Events over a six week period and helped over 1250 pupils. We’d like to take the opportunity to pass on our gratitude to Social Progress for helping make these events a great success.

At the Carr Manor Careers Event, attendance of businesses benefited over 160 Year 11 students. These students will be choosing their future education and career paths from July 2013, and sharing your knowledge of the skills and qualifications required by businesses will help them make informed decisions. Students were very enthusiastic about the event and felt they were given an insight into the options they face in choosing a career.

Marion Francis – IAG Manager at Carr Manor Community School – said, “Thanks to everyone who took part in this fantastic event – all the businesses interacted well with the young people, who were talking about it for days afterward – a sure sign that it was a great success and that it made an impact on them.”.

Cockburn School focused on a marketplace event for 400 of their Year 10 and 11 students; this was our biggest Careers Event to date and was a huge success with the pupils and school alike. Each business stand was surrounded by students asking a range of questions and we wanted to express how grateful we are to you for being enthusiastic and positive throughout the busy afternoon.

Your support at events such as this is invaluable and we could not have such a strong impact without your knowledge and breadth of experience. By attending an event and representing your industry, you really helped to open the students’ eyes to the opportunities available to them, and careers they hadn’t previously considered. You helped to demonstrate to the students that each business has a variety of job roles and that with the right attitude and achievement they can succeed.

Thank you once again for all your support and enthusiasm at the Careers Events. We hope that you found it enjoyable and we look forward to hopefully working with you again in the future.

Fit for the Future – Trinity Academy’s skills, careers and higher education event

Dear Janet

I am writing to thank you for exhibiting and running a number of workshops at our ‘Fit for the Future’ event on Thursday 12 July. The time you took to visit the academy and speak to our students was greatly appreciated, and was of great value to our learners.

The aim of this event was to encourage students to consider a wide range of career and higher education options. The workshops provided real added value for students, enabling them to attend sessions that encouraged them to develop skills outside of the classroom and have contact with people who have succeeded in the real world of work and industry.

Initial feedback from students has been very positive. Many have reported that they have really benefitted from the opportunity to see the different types of careers and courses that there are, and use this information to help them consider their next steps. The workshops in particular have been enjoyed by students.

In September the academy will move to our new state-of-the-art facilities. This is the first year we have run an event like this, and with our new building, we hope to run an even bigger event next year.

I do hope that you enjoyed the day and Trinity Academy, and that you will consider returning to similar events in the future.

Once again, may I thank you for your contribution and the time you spent developing such enjoyable and engaging workshops for our students.

Leeds University Union – Post Graduate Employability Event

It was incredibly useful and I am sure you could see it was incredibly popular!

Once again thank you.

Lily Pickles of Holmfirth

We have been very sceptical about social media sites and their capacity for abuse of privacy. Then we realised that radio programmes, newspapers etc are all asking for tweets, even the Radio 4 news programmes, so we thought there might be something in the idea. But how to make it work? The Social Progress workshop provided the answers and now @lilypickles1 on behalf of Lily Pickles of Holmfirth, is a keen tweeter.

We have come across lots of like minded people and businesses and already got some good business leads from Twitter for our wholesale business and had retail customers come to us after seeing us on Twitter. Re-Tweets from our followers, who have far more followers then we do, means that our message is reaching people we would never have come across without Twitter. By linking with local organisation such as Kirklees Markets and Holmfirth Arts Festival we can be confident that our message is going to the right people.

The 2 hours spent going to the Social Progress workshop has “changed our game” more than any other event we can remember. Thank you, Janet.

JPBS, Jim Purcell

I have known Janet for a number of years as a Business Adviser. Our initial working relationship was in the training arena where I found Janet’s experience & knowledge invaluable. Her approach to supporting colleagues & clients was extremely practical, all about what the client needed & how best to achieve this. Feedback from a number of clients was excellent.

More recently I have been trying to get to grips with LinkedIn. I had previously been on a number of workshops but these tended to assume you knew the basics & therefore did not give me any real value. I recently attended one of Janet’s workshops & found her style very professional whilst at the same time very practical. As with the training experience I felt Janet was really interested in helping me get an understanding of what I wanted out of LinkedIn & how I could get there. I am still not an expert but am getting there.

If you are looking for someone to develop your people I would certainly recommend Janet.

Business Link Yorkshire, Sarah Carrette

Thanks for running the sessions on using LinkedIn for us. It really helped me to understand why I should be on there, what I could do with it and how it fits in next to Twitter and Facebook. It really opened my eyes so thanks for patiently answering all my questions!

Datech Scientific Limited

“Datech Scientific Limited are a small business located just north of Sheffield, and we operate in quite a niche market in the UK and Ireland. Although we do have a website, we do not on the whole attract customers through the site, our business usually comes from existing customers or others within our industry fields. We felt LinkedIn would be of use to try to establish a closer link with professionals from within our industry sector, to keep them up to date with new products and solutions. From an initial meeting with Janet Bebb, from Social Progress Ltd, she explained and assisted me in setting up a presence on LinkedIn, and has demonstrated how I can now continue to add links, and to search for suitable individuals and companies. She was a great help to myself in speeding up the process of registering, and setting up my profile. I have had little experience with social networking in the past, and Janet certainly has given me far more confidence to proceed with LinkedIn and to appreciate the advantages that it may bring. She demonstrated great patience, and enabled me to achieve something that without her help I’m sure I wouldn’t have persevered with.”
