Wakefield Business Conference

Jul 7, 2015

You may or may not have heard that Social Progress were 1 of 40 exhibitors at the Wakefield Business Conference 2015 during Wakefield Business Week! Janet and Esther were buzzing at the business event meeting lots of new people and catching up with familiar faces too!

We took along a load of business cards, leaflets and Cadbury’s Boost bars for delegates to take away – the Boost bars were very popular and we had to keep quite a close eye on them all so they didn’t run away!!

Not only did we have a stand in the main hall – very near to Paula from Creative Analysis – but Janet was also 1 of 7 guest speakers who were presenting across the day. Janet spoke for 20 minutes in the afternoon about “Social Media Crisis Management”. There were about 60 delegates in the room who had all booked to hear the talk.  Click here to read the notes from Janet’s presentation “Social Media Crisis Management”.

Even though it was non-stop and full-on, we had so much fun throughout the day! We took the yellow typewriter with us for people to have a go with – we got quite a few photos of people typing away… We also had the SoPro #Selfie frames for people to use and tweet!

Esther was hot on the social media and was practically behind the lens all day photographing and tweeting away. There was a company there who had set up a big TV screen and displayed the twitter feed for the Conference hashtag #MYCW15 – Esther’s personal mission was to fill it with Social Progress as much as possible!

We also ran a competition to win a free 30 minute social media review and a 1 hour appointment at Social Progress HQ in Honley. We asked people to put their business card in the draw for a chance to win. We collected quite a few by the end of the day. We have been so busy in the office that the winner is still to be announced!!! Did you enter the competition? If so then do keep your eyes peeled on our social media platforms and we’ll also announce the winner through our email campaigns! – DO we hear you ask “how do I sign up for the email campaigns?” No worries; click here and you can sign up.

Overall there were about 400 delegates who came to visit the Wakefield Business Conference (for free) at Unity Works in the heart of Wakefield. It was a very hot day but we enjoyed it a lot and had a good laugh with the other exhibitors too! There were new connections made and we just hope that everyone else enjoyed it as much as we did!

Well done to Tracy Smith from Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Richard Norman from Brand Yorkshire for organising such a fantastic event! And thank you to everyone else who was involved with organising and running the event. You did a brilliant job!
